There are so many different things that you can do with crochet. This is one of the many things I love about the craft! Clothing, accessories, home decor, toys.. the possibilities are endless.
I also love a homemade gift. It means so much more than just going to the store and picking something out. People confuse homemade with cheap. For those crafters out there- you know it's anything but. In addition to the materials, you have your time wrapped into it too. It's all worth it though to see someone really enjoy and appreciate your work.
I whipped up this cute fox blanket buddy for a friend who was doing a woodland animals themed nursery for her new little one. I'd seen pictures of these blanket buddies (amigurumi meets grannie square) and thought it would be a quick and fun project. I wasn't wrong. (4) Weight Yarn- I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn in coral (orange), black and white.
2 beads or snaps for eyes (I used snap on eyes sold for stuffed animals)

Blanket Piece
Chain 4, slip stitch to starting ch to form a ring
Round 1: {IN ORANGE} Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ring, [ch 3,3 dc in ring] 3 times, ch 1, hdc in top of t-ch, do not turn – 12 dc
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc around post of hdc, *ch 1, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] in ch-3 sp; rep from * around to last ch-3, ch 1, 3 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, hdc in top of t-ch, do not turn – 24 dc

Nose
Using black yarn, sew yarn around end of white to create a nose. (Use one stitch as a guideline for how far into the white nose part you should wrap the black yarn through)
Ears (make 2)
Round 1: {In Black} 6 sc in magic circle – 6 sc
Round 2: [1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next] three times – 9 sc
Round 3: {In Orange} [1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] three times – 12 sc
Round 4: [1 sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] three times –15 sc
Round 5: Sc in each st across – 15 sc
*Finish off
Flip inside out for prior to attaching to head
Arms (make 2)
Round 1: {In Black} 4 sc in magic circle – 4 sc
Round 2: [1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next] 2 times – 6 sc
Round 3 -4: Sc in each st across – 6 sc
*Slip stitch into next st before changing color (this will ensure you have an even line between the black and orange)
Round 5 - 16: {In Orange} Sc in each st across – 6 sc
*Finish off. (Do not stuff the arms)
Assembly Notes
*When attaching the ears to the head- ensure they are attached in a slight curve shape.
*When attaching the head to the blanket- ensure the head is aligned to one of the blanket corners.
*Arms are attached under head- sew through blanket and base of head to attach.
